Troubleshooting
Plugin not showing up in my DAW
- Verify the file location. Make sure the
.vst3file or folder is in the correct path for your OS (see Installation Guide). - Rescan plugins. Most DAWs have a “Rescan” or “Refresh” button in their plugin manager / preferences.
- Restart the DAW. Some hosts only detect new plugins on a full restart.
- Architecture mismatch. Make sure you downloaded the build matching your system (x86_64). ARM/Apple-Silicon builds are universal on macOS.
- Check the DAW’s plugin blacklist. If a previous scan failed, the plugin may have been blacklisted. Clear the blacklist and rescan.
macOS: “Cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified”
This happens because the plugin is not notarized by Apple. It is safe — you can verify the download’s SHA-256 checksum (SHA256SUMS.txt).
Fix
- Open System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS).
- Go to Privacy & Security.
- Scroll down. You should see a message about the blocked file.
- Click “Open Anyway”.
- If prompted again, click “Open”.
Alternative (Terminal)
sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Panoramatone.vst3
Windows: SmartScreen warning
Because the plugin is distributed as a .zip (not a signed
installer), SmartScreen warnings are uncommon. If you do see one:
- Click “More info”.
- Click “Run anyway”.
You can verify the download integrity with:
Get-FileHash .\Panoramatone_Windows_VST3_*.zip -Algorithm SHA256
Compare the output against SHA256SUMS.txt.
Audio glitches / high CPU
- Increase your DAW’s audio buffer size (try 512 or 1024 samples).
- Make sure you are using the latest version of the plugin.
- If the issue persists, please open a bug report with your OS, DAW, buffer size, and sample rate.
